Ricardo Alves (Brazil, 1988) lives and works in São Paulo. He has a degree in Fine Arts from the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo (USP). He works mostly with painting and has participated in several group shows in São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, and abroad — in New York, US, and Tsukuba, Japan. He has won prizes in the 40th Contemporary Art Show of Ribeirão Preto, 40th Luiz Sacilotto Contemporary Art Show of Santo André, and in the 11th National Fine Arts Show of Guarulhos. The artist had his first solo exhibition in 2016, at Sancovsky Gallery in São Paulo and at the Ribeirão Preto Museum of Art. In 2021, he was nominated for the PIPA prize, one of the most prestigious Brazilian awards in contemporary art. This year he participated in a show at SESC Av Paulista in São Paulo, as part of the collective avaf, “alterações vividas absolutamente fantasiosas”.
