BIO
Gabriel Botta (Brazil, 1989) lives and works in São Paulo. His sultry paintings and drawings explore the symbolic field, where different signs relate to each other — dream, legend, matter, and the body. Botta’s themes intermingle as they activate the surfaces he works on and the space between each piece. He has graduated in Fine Arts at FAAP — Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado —, where he was awarded a scholarship during the 44th annual show in 2012. Botta has participated in several group exhibitions, which include: the 5th EDP award at Tomie Ohtake Institute, in 2016, and the 42nd SARP at Museu de Arte de Ribeirão Preto, in 2017. There, he also won the City Hall acquisition prize and had a solo show, "9", at MARP, in 2018. In that same year, he completed an artistic residency program at Taller del Clot in Barcelona, Spain. More recently, in 2021, he had his second solo show, "Nos Confins", at koganamaro gallery, in São Paulo, curated by Pollyana Quintella.
